Yedikule Gasworks was the first gas factory that is located in the 1-degree urban archaeological and historical site, was established in 1887 in order to produce gas to Rumeli Side. Today Gasworks is devastated, although legally protected, were abandoned to extinction.
The results of research and analysis in the worldwide and urban scale, Yedikule Gasworks can be a part of Istanbul and European industrial heritage trail routes. In this context, the area is protected and proposed to transform as public space, registered building restored in order to revive urban life in there.
In order to interconnect and provide continuity of important points in the historical peninsula and Yedikule Gasworks some design decisions has taken and improved strategies to prevent damage to the existing residential structure, has been avoided to mass destruction.
In this framework, Yedikule Gasworks has been converted to the industrial park so as to host the social, cultural and artistic activities and revive urban life in that area.
