Ödemis urban design competition project is located in one of the district of Izmir.
The starting point of this project was to think Ödemis’s sustainability, historical, cultural, social texture, and also past, present and future. In order to protect all these features are foreseen design approach to assimilate its own traditions, values and identity. In this frame, it was targeted that to design Ödemis as attractive which can live in harmony with its natives, tourists, and investors. Another crucial concept that has been developed for this project is to think Ödemis as ‘easy city’. In this framework, in order to ensure continuity in the town, urban transportation accessible, driveway direction changed and the bike path, pedestrian-oriented approach has been solved.
Recommended green corridor is resolved in the town various places, in these areas functioned as urban agricultural areas, vegetables - flower gardens, is determined as recreation and sports fields.
Using linear forms in the grounds provides convenience, transparency and integrity of the transition between locations.
Existing city park has been revised and created as urban public square where can be used as well as on special occasions, also in everyday life.
According to program needs, cultural center is designed and provided relations with its environment. Both with large and small scale, structural landscape design formal decisions has been made cultural center more active and visible.
